New Hi-Tech Polio Brace

New Hi-Tech Polio
Brace

http://www.townsenddesign.com/KAFO.html

Polio
Brace
Townsend custom Polio knee braces are
designed for post-polio patients or to
control severe
recurvatum. The brace is fabricated with an anterior
thigh
shell and posterior calf shell.

The Synergistic
Suspension Strap (illustration to right) on Polio
Braces
attaches to the outside of the posterior calf shell and
wraps at a strategic
angle around the inside of the
uprights. The strap also provides
adjustable
hyperextension control.

Drop Lock Brace
The Townsend
Drop Lock brace is indicated anytime the quadriceps
lack
sufficient strength to prevent the knee from buckling. The
brace features
drop lock Townsend Motion Hinges that
fixate the knee when the patient is
weight-bearing.
The locks can be manually released to allow the knee
to flex
when the patient is non-weight-bearing.
An optional ball bearing and spring
retainer can
be ordered that enables the lock to remain
disengaged. The Drop
Lock brace can be fabricated for
either ACL or Combined Instabilities, and
is also
available in a Polio model. If no model is indicated, our
standard
protocol is to fabricate the brace using our combined
instabilities
design.

http://www.townsenddesign.com/KAFO.html

Patients with
physical conditions or injuries that require
the daily use of
an AFO or KAFO are more than just
mobility-challenged. These patients also
face emotional hurdles and
life-style inconveniences because traditional
brace
designs are bulky, unattractive and not particularly
user-friendly.
This enhanced treatment option combines Townsend's
solid core graphite shell
designs with patented (and
patent-pending) titanium knee and ankle hinge
technology. The
result is a rigid, durable bracing solution that
achieves
more effective and consistent control. Ultra light,
extremely low profile,
and exceptionally comfortable,
these designs optimize patient compliance
and
satisfaction.

Townsend Design's Premier Series AFO and KAFO braces
are
hand-made by our
orthotists and technicians to fit, feel
and perform better than any other
brace prescribed
to enhance patient mobility.

Features and
Benefits

Extremely light, cool, cosmetically-appealing KAFO and AFO
brace designs.
Multiple shell and hinge options let
you choose the optimum bracing solution
for each
patient.
Low profile solid core graphite shells with beautiful
radius edges provide
maximum control and
comfort.
Titanium knee and ankle joints are ultra light and
durable.
Slim graphite foot plate enhances support and
comfort.
Patented Townsend Motion Hinges on KAFO braces ensure
total shell-to-skin
contact throughout range of
motion.
Assist technology (using latex bands) offers a simple,
user-friendly
alternative to springs.
Glossy paint finish provides an
attractive protective coating.
Shell and strap pads can
be removed and/or replaced for enhanced comfort
and
hygiene.

I don't work for the company. See some
