Greetings again everyone.
I have a question about orthotists. As some of you suggested,
getting a good one that takes care of your needs is essential. My
problem is that I am in an HMO that, I am supposing contracts with a
limited number of companies. I have been with Hanger since my
injuries and appreciate what the manager has gone through to get to
the point of what I finally ended up with (after umpteen attempts
and breaks.....). My final product from him are heavy rocker soles
and long tongued stirrups, all in solid steel, that have held up
well to my abuse out in the wetlands and streamside locations I work
on. However, if I had known someone locally that knew a more
traditional orthotist and my insurance paid for their services I
would go to them in a second.
Anyone know of a PPS group or good orthotist in the Portland, Oregon
area??
While the traditional metal braces can be a pain, I have yet to find
a better replacement for being in the great outdoors like I find
myself sometimes. I am guessing that a larger framed person like me
in plastic afo's would mangle them in just a few miles of hiking. I
know I would.
