Hi.
I am also the mother of daughters age 11 and a son 21. Have being in a wc for
three years and still learning.
Reading your stories have fill my day with enthusiasm I have so many questions.
How to take care of a toddler? How to handle the protocol of a weeding? Did you
wait at the altar? ect. It never stop to amaze me the determination that each
of us have and after all happiness is a choice that we make. During this
journey I have met some very strong and tenacious people. My friend Monica
reassure me that I could take care of my family and go in field trips and
continue to volunteer as I did prior to SCI. My friend Jeff taught me that I
could be a coach.
Parenting is not only about what we can do physically but about how we can guide
this children. For that ,what we need is a good head on our shoulders, patience
and lots of love. None of those come from legs. I am also getting to that
point were I am not the most beautiful and perfect person for my girls. That
tell me that they are developing normally. It is great to have company in the
fitting room and they are always willing to go shopping (especially it is for
them)
Since I went to collage single and healthy and became paralyze at 40 kudos to
all of you that have done so well and have had the courage and guts to take on
life with such determination.
You are amazing!!!
Please tell me how to be a grandma in wheels and how to take care of babies.
Choose to have a great day!
Liza

Hi Mary,
What a coincidence! I had my eight year anniversary on Jan 22 of this year.
My sons were in 3rd and 6th grade at the time. My youngest doesn't remember
me walking either.
I was extremely involved with my sons' schools and activities. Now on son is
a Soph. in college and the other is in high school so they don't want me
meddling in their stuff any more.
In fact I went to the same movie theater that my son went to when he was
going with his friends. He was upset because he thought I was "chaperoning"
him. I said I was not even going to the same movie. I think he was
chaperoning us. :-)
Have a great day!
Monica
