Know problem I was just thinking that you have been in court for 57 years tiring
to settle you accident. I thought that was an awful long time.
And good for you get that motor home and deck it out so it is accessible and get
on the road that sound like so much fun.
You do need to research spinal cord centers before you go so if anything does
happen you will at least have a reference to fall back on.

are you 57 years old or 57 post injury.
when I was in rehab there were only 3 women and by the time I got out of
intense care unit I was the only women and had to share a room with 3 other
men. It was awful but we tend to survive some of the most awful thing just
to get out and home. I looked at it like a job. Getting up at 7 am and to
bed at 8 pm.

majority of the SCI men were injured from motorcycle accidents and diving

about ready to go to court, dealing with large auto manufacturers has been a
nightmare! I have a daughter who is 37 and also a great help to me. My

My husband owned his own business and sold it a year after my accident, he
stayed on to work for the new owner and is planning to retire soon. We want
to buy a wheelchair accessible motorhome to travel around the country with

I hope I started a bit of a stir by stating that there are not many chat
rooms for women with spinal cord injuries.
At the time of my injury my daughter was 11 years old. I had been a single
mom since she was 14 months old.
I worked as a nurse since I was 19years old. After my injury I was in rehab
for 4 months and home for 2 months getting a car, my daughter into her new
school. I had just bought a house in May of that year and the accident
happened in August. Well we didn't loose our house. I was back to work in
total time of 6 months. I could hardly pull up my pants when I went to the
bathroom. I worked in a clinical setting with a great group of women they
were my support system. One would come with me to the bathroom and help me,
as I got stronger I was able to do it on my own.
I work for a great Doctor and Friend. He and his wife (who was a nurse)
would come to rehab. to see what my day would be like. His wife would come
and go through the day with me. I was like a job.
My daughter is 34 now and married to a wonderful man and they have 2 darling
children. A boy 19 months and a daughter 3 weeks old.
I had to stop working because I hurt myself at work lifting and twisting and
that was in 2000.
My daughter and son in law talked me into moving closer to them. I lived in
Santa Cruz and now I live in Roseville,Ca big difference.
I have not found any support groups up here but I have only been here since
March 2004
