Hi, Karen
I agree. This group hasnıt been very active. So letıs start a trend. I am L1
incomplete para since Jan 96. I havenıt gone through any anxiety disorder
treatment, but experienced therapy with two psychologists following my
injury. It helped me cope a little better to be able to have someone to talk
to about all my fears and frustrations.
The fact that you stood up is astounding and wonderful! Congratulations!
Attitude is everything in your recovery. Also, if youıve ever had a weight
problem, be extra vigilant about eating the right foods and getting as much
exercise as possible. I gained almost 45 pounds in the years following my
injury, and it took me more than two years to lose the excess weight. So
far, Iıve lost 55 pounds (a combination of Weight Watchers and lots of
exercise almost every day), and Iım within 13 pounds of my goal. Though I
havenıt regained the ability to walk or stand, losing the weight has given
me so much more freedom and independence.
How was your rehab in the hospital (physical therapy, occupational therapy)?
Do you have a good support network of friends and family? What is a L2-5
fusion?
Keep up the good work.
