Hi, Lula
So sorry to hear about your pain. I have it, too. I am L1 incomplete. Have
had it almost from the beginning. If itıs the same as mine, itıs called
neuropathic pain. Feels like stinging, intense tingling, burning pain. I
have it just about 24/7. Itıs caused by the neurons at the base of the spine
over-firing, hence the burning feeling. Sort of like itıs trying to heal
itself, but canıt, so the sensation is read by the brain as pain.
Iıve tried everything there is, including heavy pain meds like methadone and
morphine. Nothing helps. They put me on a drug called Neurontin, which
helped a lot at first, but then steadily became pretty much ineffective.
Some days are better than others. My period makes it worse, so does intense
heat or cold, or stress. The only things that have helped are relaxation
therapy (learning how to use self-hypnosis to put my body in a relaxed
state), massage therapy, and then keeping as busy as possible and trying not
to dwell on the pain.
I wish I had better news for you. Hopefully theyıll find a cure or treatment
eventually. For now, just take it one day at a time. On the bad days, tell
yourself it will be better tomorrow, and it probably will be.
Take care.
Anne
