I drive a '99 Pontiac Grand Am...
4 door with a console between the front 2 seats...
The key for me is that when I get in my car, I lean the seat all the way back,
so that
when I pull my chair across me to put it in the passenger seat, there is plenty
of room
between me and the steering wheel.
Don't hesitate to write, if I can give any advice.

Subject: [Women with SCI] wheelchairs
I'm interested in learning from other paras who use a rigid frame wheelchair
and take the wheels off each time they transfer into a car.
I've always used a folding chair and pulled it in behind me in a two door
car. It's getting hard (impossible?) to find a two door car with a bench
seat and a big enough back seat to do this. I looked at mini-vans but
didn't like the extra size.
I'd appreciate any help anyone can give.
