Dear Friend,
With more than 1,000 children around the world acquiring HIV
each day, we desperately need new solutions, more research, and fresh hope in the fight against HIV/AIDS. What if embryonic stem cell research could offer a new way forward in creating a
generation free of HIV?
Tell the White House that stem cell research is important!
Cutting-edge research is essential to developing new treatments for HIV/AIDS, and improving medicines developed specifically for HIV-positive children is particularly critical. When one drug doesn't work effectively or produces serious side effects, there are very few pharmaceutical alternatives for children. More research, including embryonic stem cell research, is urgently needed to pursue new avenues in drug development to beat HIV.
But there are many hurdles. For years, federal restrictions have been in place to limit embryonic stem cell research.
Because of arbitrary policy, scientists must curb their studies to stem cells derived prior to 2001 -- a loss of eight years of potential scientific discovery!
It is time to lift these restrictions and allow important scientific research to move forward.
You can help. Urge President Obama to lift limitations on stem cell research today.
Expanded federal funding for research on embryonic stem cells holds great promise for children's health -- because it is research that creates opportunities for medical breakthroughs in many diseases that devastate children and adults, including HIV/AIDS.
But research takes time to produce results -- time that many children don't have.
Now is the time to act. Join us in speaking out today!
