Subject: Announcement: Our New Year’s Resolutions

Emily posted an announcement to the cause Generation Free Campaign: The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

----------------
Dear Friends,

As 2008 draws to a close, we’re looking back on the year’s accomplishments. The Foundation is now working in more than 3,200 sites. To date, more than 4.8 million women have been tested for HIV through Foundation-supported programs. We’ve reached more than 5.7 million women with access to services to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV. More than 260,000 individuals—including some 20,000 children--have begun life-prolonging antiretroviral treatment. And we now have 3,505 friends on Facebook. Not too shabby, if we say so ourselves.

But despite all this progress, there’s still so much to do. So we’ve made some resolutions for 2009:

 We will continue to fund innovative projects by the best minds in science to develop a pediatric HIV vaccine, assess the long-term effects of AIDS medicines, and increase the effectiveness of programs in the field.
 We will convince leaders that pediatric HIV/AIDS must be a top priority and fight to secure for children the same access to safe and effective treatments that we demand for adults.
 We will strengthen and expand our programs to provide the best HIV care and treatment to as many mothers and children as possible.
 We will do all we can to bring an end to pediatric HIV/AIDS.

You know we can’t do any of this without you. We need your help, your voices, your commitment. Please continue to support the Foundation and the Generation Free Campaign. Invite your friends to our Facebook group, post your picture on our Flickr page, come to one of our events. Help us make the Foundation’s 20th anniversary year its best yet.

Thank you for all you’ve done and continue to help us do, and best wishes for the new year.

--Your friends at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation
