Celebrity Golfers Swing Into Action for the Foundation
Actors, athletes, and amateur golfers hit the links October 6 for the Foundation's tenth annual Celebrity Golf Classic at Lakeside Golf Club in Burbank, CA. Among the many famous faces in the crowd were longtime Foundation supporters and event co-hosts James Caan, Joe Pesci, and Sylvester Stallone, as well as live auctioneer Sharon Stone. This year's Classic raised $600,000 to support the Foundation's lifesaving programs, bringing the event's decade-long total to more than $5 million. See photos from the Classic.
Foundation Supports Opening of Pediatric ER in Côte d'Ivoire
A much-needed emergency pediatric unit is now open in Côte d'Ivoire, thanks to the support of the Foundation through the CDC and Foundation in-country partner the MTN Foundation. The facility, located in Abidjan's Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Treichville, will provide critical treatment and health services to children and families, especially those living with HIV/AIDS. Leading Minds Come Together at Annual White Oak Conference
In September, top HIV/AIDS researchers and clinicians from around the world gathered at the fourteenth White Oak Conference to brainstorm and collaborate in the spirit of the Foundation's mission to eradicate pediatric HIV/AIDS. This year's conference featured presentations from the recipients of the Pediatric HIV Vaccine Program Grants and the 2007 International Leadership Awards, as well as discussion of the Foundation's broadening research portfolio, which now includes Operations Research to optimize our implementation programs. Foundation CEO and Celebrity Ambassador Interviewed on NPR
The October 21 edition of NPR's News & Notes featured an interview with Foundation President and CEO Pam Barnes and Foundation Celebrity Ambassador Gloria Reuben. Host Farai Chideya discussed the Foundation's history and its work in the U.S. and Africa with the pair, including their recent trip to Foundation-supported PMTCT sites in South Africa. Ariel's Club Member Speaks at Dublin AIDS Conference
More than 200 delegates from around the world gathered in Dublin, Ireland, in October for UNICEF's fourth Global Partners' Forum on Children Affected by HIV and AIDS. Foundation Policy Officer Catherine Connor and Uganda Psychosocial Support Officer Catherine Nanyunja were in attendance, as was 17 year-old Faith Kisakye, an Ariel's Club member from rural Masaka, Uganda. Faith was chosen by UNICEF to address the conference. She spoke movingly about her own HIV diagnosis, the challenges she has faced since, and the need for increased HIV education and care and treatment programs. Read more about Faith's experience.

Having known Elizabeth Glaser since childhood, Sally was shaken when she discovered Elizabeth had AIDS. Inspired by Elizabeth's strength through her struggles, Sally quickly became one of the Foundation's most dedicated supporters.
