News & Notes , October 21, 2008 · Over time, the path of the AIDS pandemic has changed.

African women and children are now among the key groups of people living with HIV. But just because a pregnant woman has HIV doesn't mean her baby will, too.

For 20 years, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation has worked to stem the rise of infection among children, and its work in Africa has grown.

Today, the foundation supports more than 3,000 clinics in 17 countries, mostly in sub-Saharan Africa. Pamela Barnes, the organization's president and CEO, recently traveled to South Africa with actress Gloria Reuben, a celebrity ambassador for the group.

Both share their stories with Farai Chideya.
