Around Town: Raising funds for AIDS

The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation is sponsoring a fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Hair Waves, 3040 Park Ave. The proceeds from every child's haircut will go to the foundation. To schedule an appointment, call (209) 722-1720 or (209) 658-2177.

Sikhs parade

The Sikh Parade will start at about noon on Sunday at the Sikh Temple on Peach Avenue. As always, everyone is invited.

Social dance Sunday

The Senior Social Dance, sponsored by the City of Merced, will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at 755 W. 15 St. The Crowns will play swing, Latin, country, waltz, polkas and special reguests.

LIVINGSTON/DELHI

 

Contest deadline near

The Livingston/Delhi Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars is sponsoring the National Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest. Entries are due by Monday.

 

Students must have crafted their entries during the 2007-08 school year and this must be verified by a teacher's signature on each entry form.

First, second and third place winners will receive cash, an "Eagle Liberty" jacket and a certificate. The winning artwork will be eligible for state competion and from there, the winners go to the national competition to vie for scholarships up to $10,000. Musicians raise money

 

The annual Music of Merced Festival returns to Merced Theatre at 7:30 p.m. April 4 and 5 to feature the Merced area's finest musicians in a fundraiser for the theater's restoration and refurbishment. Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Cost is $25 for adults, $17 for students and $12.50 for children 12 and under. Refreshments will be served in the lobby. Tickets are usually in short supply so early purchase is recommended.
