This has been bothering me for quite sometime and I wanted to share it all with you. Many causes out there which are very important and I support many of them emotionally, however the one that gets to me, that really affects my very soul is Pediatric AIDS.
I've found over time, especially this summer of which I've learned a very important lesson that still after all these years; many communities treat HIV/AIDS as a silence disease. One that should be not talked about rather swept under the carpet of humanity and forgotten about.
Even members of the medical circle, professionals, workers and volunteers alike still silently feel this way. Many will not even donate if they know it's for this cause as I've witnessed first hand.
It's is of course the total opposite here within our community where this is something that we as a whole are fighting against; however what about those on the outside of the spectrum who are ignoring this disease and what it's capable of doing and how many lives it's taken or ruined?
In a whole it's not just about women, men, children or being gay or straight. No, it's about a horrid illness that is not biased, it doesn't care who or what you are.
It killes and destroys.
How do we as a people get others to understand? To donate some time; energy, not just money but attitude, love and compassion?
Let me know what you think, how you feel; send your opinion to me, let's talk about this and how does it effect YOU as a whole? How does your own community deal with HIV/AIDS?
