Dear ONE Member,
A few thousand votes in Iowa or New Hampshire can mean the
difference between winning the White House or not. And with more than 20 states moving their primary contests up in the calendar, the presidential candidates need our votes more than ever.
When 2.4 million ONE members talk, you can be sure they'll listen. But before we vote, we need to hear from them.
Sign the On the Record petition and ask the presidential candidates to tell us their plans to end extreme poverty and global disease.
It's that simple. They need our votes and we need them to go on the record on
extreme poverty and global disease.
Since we launched On the Record last week, tens of thousands of ONE members have signed the petition. Later this week, ONE members will be delivering these petitions to each of the presidential campaigns.
We're working hard to be ready when the presidential candidates respond. Your petition asks the candidates to step in front of the camera and explain to ONE members directly what they will do to finally end brutal poverty around the world. We'll post each of those videos to a special On the Record section of our website.
The petition also calls on the presidential candidates to submit detailed positions on eradicating malaria, improving child and maternal health, reversing the spread of HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, achieving universal primary education and providing access to food and clean water. We're building an
online comparison tool that will allow you to compare any combination of presidential candidates on any or all of these issues.
Together, these tools represent an unprecedented level of detail on policies that will define America's role in the world in the 21st century, and impact the lives of millions of people.
But all the online infrastructure in the world won't get us answers. For that, the presidential candidates need to hear from you.
Sign the petition, forward it to a friend and let's find out exactly what the presidential candidates will commit to do in the fight to make poverty history.
To back up your petition signatures, we're placing ads in newspapers in critical early primary states this week, hammering the message home.
Sign the petition before we go to the presses, and send the message that the next President of the United States must have a clear plan to end the suffering caused by extreme poverty and global disease.
Big changes are happening with this movement of ours. For months, ONE members in the early primary and caucus states have been
meeting the candidates, asking the tough questions and giving out lots of white bands—at least one to every candidate.
Their efforts have brought us to this point, where all of us have the chance to demand that our nation's leaders focus on global poverty like they never have before. By making the presidential candidates go On the Record, we have a chance to change the debate and change the future.
Thank you for your voice,
