This group is for those who have had or are considering having Weight Loss Surgery (WLS) who want to learn to eat for the highest amount of vitamin & mineral absorption. Many of us after WLS have had issues absorbing the nutrients in our food well enough to maintain healthy levels of iron, calcium, potassium, zinc, vitamin A & D, and thyroid/parathyroid in our bodies.
Topics of discussion include:
How to eat based on the teachings of the Weston A Price Foundation, and Sally Fallon’s ‘Nourishing Traditions’ and ‘Eat Fat, Lose Fat’. What success have you had in switching yourself and your family over to the traditional way of eating?
What foods or cooking techniques have you had success with in treating malabsorption and other digestive issues caused by your WLS?
To give general support for group members to maintain our weight loss or to lose the extra pounds we have gained due to our eating habits post-op.
To give general support for group members that are attempting to make nutritional changes that are not always widely accepted in the processed food, big food company world that we live in.
Any WLS nutrition & food topics are welcome to be discussed in this forum. In doing this, we may also discuss supplementation with vitamins/minerals but that should not be the focus of our discussions. We want to learn to get the most nutrients that we can from our food so that we can reduce or limit or supplementation.
Welcome to the group. Please feel free to post and introduce yourself. We are looking forward to hearing from you!
