grain supplier in Spain?   Message List

Re: [wheatgrass] grain supplier in Spain?

Paul,

I think you have been given some misinformation. The seeds of the wheat plant,
known as wheatberries, are ground to make flour that is used to make whole wheat
bread. Wheatberries are available in bulk in the USA at local health food
stores or natural food groceries. They can also be purchased from animal feed
stores or farmer's co-ops in 50 pound bags.

Your email seems to indicate that no one bakes or eats whole wheat bread in
Spain. Surely there are bakers or stores in Spain that grind wheatberries to
make their own flour for the purpose of baking bread. What you are looking for
are the wheatberries prior to being ground into whole wheat flour.

David

Subject: [wheatgrass] grain supplier in Spain?

I cannot locate any supplier of organic wheatgrass grain in Spain. I've
tried bakers, eco shops, juice bars, flour manufacturers, mills, farmers and
associations and have come to a dead end every time. From what I understand
the process to separate the grain is no longer practised in modern farming
and there is zero demand for grain for human consumption, the only grain
being for animal feed. Furthermore the growers and suppliers in the UK and
USA cannot export seed due to customs controls.

If there is anyone on the list who knows of a source in Spain or can export
to Spain, please contact me.

Many thanks

Paul

Paul, I just do not understand. Whole wheat flour is just ground wheatberries. The mill receives the wheatberries already threshed from the wheat stalk....
