Hi DoubleMama
If you are considering growing your own wheatgrass..start now by
setting up your own organic soil by purchasing a barrel, wooden box
or any type of contailer that can handle soil.
after you finish with your second growth of wheatgrass put the matted
WG flats in the barrel along with some planting soil from your yard
or purchased. You can break WG mats up if you like...get a container
of earth worms and simply pour the worms into your barrel with the WG
leftovers and the worms will be happy as clams..smile. You can also
put your raw leftover organic food in the worm barrel. The worms
will multiply and digest all this leaving you with worm
castings...that will be highly nutritious to the regular soil you use
for planting.
My sister keeps her container outside and simply covers it when it
rains so water won't collect in the container. She scoops out cupfuls
as the worms multiply and fills the holes in her garden with it when
she is planting tiny plants. Its good to water the baby plants with
your seaweed water and spray the plants as they grow.

nutritional/theraputic protocol. She has at least one book out on
wheatgrass. She also founded the Hippocrates Inst. which has a web
site. When I bought my wheatgrass juicer i received a free book
called "Wheatgrass" by another well-known authority Steve
Meyerowitz, "the sproutman". Another authority whom I haven't read in
many years, but is still out there is Victor Kulvinskas.

I would strongly suggest you sprout only with org. You don't want to
use seed with pesticides or herbicides in them that you'll juice
from. Here are some web sites i've found from browsing around. I
don't recall at the moment which one has what, but among these sites,
I found sources for seeds, growing supplies, grow lites, tips,
articles, plant food and more.

pour over all this myself and am trying to learn all I can in order
to decide how best to go about this. For the moment we are purchasing
our wheatgrass from our local health food store who orders it weekly
for us from an org. distributor. Once we determine the best way for
uas to grow wg we'll start. But for the moment this is allowing us to
at least drink wg and see what benefits we gain from it.

slowly with the amounts you give your children. You might even
consider mixing it with other juices to dliute it. Some of the
symptoms of headaches, nausea and such could be casued by the mold as
you have read or high sugar content, but I would also include that
there is a certain amount of detox reaction from the cleansing power
of wgrass. I have experienced a series of detox symptoms ranging from
headaches to even reccurances of old health problems. I had started
with 1 once and slwoly worked up to 3 at the moment. I also have a
mixed vegie juice later in the day.

going thru this for older people. I clean my wheatgrass with a spray
solution of food grade h2o2 along with a series of rinses and I can
tell you that wheatgrass is real clean of mold by the time I juice
it. Our source is actually pretty clean in general. But I have alot
of allergies and am real careful about getting my food cleaned.

alot of trouble with mold. She buys from the same source as we. she
also doesn't get a good second growth. I have read on one of the
sites that cold temps encourage mold and discourage growth.

leaving them under a grow light. I've been taking the left-over
wheatgrass pulp after juicing and putting in filtered water along
with a couple of drops of lugol's iodine. I've found i've gotten a
pretty good second growth of wheatgrass. Again, I have to say that I
don;t know alot about this, We are experimenting and learning
