Hi..I just picked up a Back to Basics Wheatgrass juicer and am having
a hard time figuring out the optimal use of the tension screw at the
end of the machine.
The manual says to set this all the way down (turned as tight as it
will go so that the attached screw goes down into the machine all the
way) when starting to juice, and then let it ease up a little after
juice starts to come out.
I can't seem to get the hang of this, and the grass doesn't seem to
eject after "juiced"..it just all blobs up at the end of the juicer
until I physically pull it out.
Also - it seems like a lot of grass doesn't get fully shredded. If I
put a big handful of grass in, the first 2/3s EVENTUALLY gets pulled
in (man, do you have to push it in - it definitely doesn't "pull" it
in!), and the last 1/3 just gets into the auger chamber and quickly
lays down horizontally - at this point, there isn't enough in the
chamber to "chew" it, and the grass never gets processed.
I'm clearly a newbie at this machine, but would appreciate any hints
on how to use it before I decide to just give up and go back to
sticking to "mixed" wheatgrass with the Veggie Juice (carrot,
brocolli, spinach, apple, wheatgrass + sometimes dandelion) I make in
my GreenStar. (BTW..if anyone uses any of the GreenXX [GreenLife,
GreenStar, GreenPower, etc] machines to do dedicated Wheatgrass
juicing, I'd love to hear from you. I bought the Back to Basics
since I wanted to do "quick" juicing of Wheatgrass only, and the
GreenStar is overkill and a pain to clean for just a 1 oz Wheatgrass).
Thanks -
Jim
