Dear Sherry
I work with people who have been diagnosed as suffering from WKS and over a period of time some have shown variable rates of recovery. Usually within 12-18 months.
One gentleman has shown no improvement and will need quite intensive care for the rest of his life. We have certainly noticed a deterioration in his presentation following ingestion of alcohol. This has led to periods of agitation, aggression and violence towards staff.
Generally I would advise abstinence from alcohol as being the best route. What has changed to stop the situation from happening again?

Hi,
Recently a question came up concerning WKS and recovery. Now that I am
recovered, do they still consider I have WKS, or that I HAD WKS? Does
anyone know? I know that if I start drinking again, I can relapse.
But is that something that would happen sort of "automatically" or
would it creep up over time like it did before? Is it possible I could
relapse without drinking?
I know I should ask my doc these questions, but I thought someone here
might know.
It's cheaper to ask you guys. LOL
Sherry
