Hello,
My father has been in a nursing home for 4 1/2 years...he is 67. He
was diagnosed with Dementia...but all the symptoms point toward
WKS. There was talk very early on that it may be that, however they
diagnosed him with Dementia (I think for insurance reasons to be
honest). Well, my mom seems to think he is getting better. He
remembers things, like she went in on Thursday and he said, I was
worried about you, you have not been here since Sunday and now it is
Thursday. I was looking for a phone to call you. However, to try
to get him to shower and change his clothes is an issue and the
nursing home he is in just doesn't deal with it!
Is Dementia and WKS offen confused? What about that other disease
I've seen on TV...NPH (Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus). Can people
just get better with WKS?? My mom said that his memory is pretty
strong, he knows the days of the week, what is going on in the
outside world. He just got his security ankle bracelet removed,
perhaps he is feeling more freedom and it is all just related in
some way.
Just wondering about the two being confused...
Good luck to you all!
Kerry
