Re: [wernicke_korsakoff_syndrome] hello

Hi everyone,
Things have been very quite recently, hopefully that is good news for
everyone.  No change at my end either, still looking for a new home
for dad.
Scottish Summer - it has been raining for days, Typical!!
Hopefully the weather is better where you all are.

Hello Ann.

What a lovely little note. Sometimes i think that is all this group is
missing.........connection. That is why i love my caregivers group.

It seems the norm that when this caregivers group that i used to belong
to gets far to large (must be hundreds of members plus all the silent
lurkers) we slowly disband and make our own groups which i and some other
members did well over a year or so ago.

This group has done wonders for me and will be my lifelong friends. I am
the only New Zealander on it but. All the others are American and from
many different states, and it is great. Two ladies (sisters actually
whom husbands have since passed from illness) came and visited me in
January and it was absolutely fantastic. One of these days i am hoping
to be able to get over there with my family and visit them
also........and others if i can.

We are in contact all the time even if it has nothing to do with
caregiving. Just simple friendly contact, keeping in contact on a daily
or weekly catch up basis. Some of us have since placed loved ones in
Nursing Homes and others have loved ones that have since passed. Whilst
others still have their loved one at home.

I found it interesting Ann to read about your Scottish summer, whilst i
am sitting here in our cold winter!! Just as one of my American
friends wrote this morning of her lovely summers days.......warmed me up
a little!!

Not sure if any of you on this group follow rugby at all??. I know you
are more a soccer nation in Europe?? But the Lion rugby team is here
along with what is called their Balmy Army!! Supporters of their (your)
Lions rugby team from all over Europe. There must be thousands of
campervans conveying our roads following your rugby team............it is
awesome to see so many on the roads following head to tail, heading for
wherever the next game is held.!! We have one here soon in Palmerston
North and the town is getting very prepared for them all.............

Well i best get going as i am about to pick up Brian and take him to the
hospital with me to visit one of our residents from my Nursing home. Not
sure if she will come back from this visit, which is quite sad for me as
she is such a wee darling....she has dementia and reminds me so much of
Brian...........always asking when, when, when, when and very much a
routine lady pacing up and down our nursing home passage way. Will
certainly miss that even though some may not.

Well i sure hope your Scottish summer picks up soon Ann, would love to
hear more.
I have a sister in law whom traveled to England to attend a university
there (she was born in England as is my olderst sons father). But she
ended up metting and falling in love with a man in East Sussex. They
have bought a house by the sea and i can not ever see her coming back to
New Zealand, good for her!!

Oh and by the way Ann i am of Scottish decendance!!!. My Scottish
Granddad sailed here alone, fell in love and married my New Zealand
Nana. She died last year in her 100th year!! Also my other grandad was
born and breed in Pansacooth, Cornwall, sailed here in 1919 as a sailor
serving under the Brittish Navy ship Freyton. He also fell in love and
married my other New Zealand Nana Edith. So now you know where i came
from..........!!

Take good care (excuse spelling.......no spell check!!)
Tania
