hi my brother in law gary was diagnosed with this disease when he was 45 that was just two years ago - but it seems like many more. gary was always "lucky" when it came to getting getting into trouble while doing alcohol or drugs - or so he thought. actually, no one did him a favor. the last time a friend of ours stopped him. he had a black russian in the car and a joint lit up. our freind realized he was my husband's brother, and gave him a ticket for a seat belt violation. now gary doesn't even remember this. this police man was also the one who arrested gary for assault on his girl freind a year later. gary almost died from seizures he suffered. he was in intensive care for 3 weeks. that is when he was diagnosed with korsokoff. he was sent to a "rehab" center when he was released from the hospital. it turned out that they had no programs to help him. we have found that no facilities treat this disease. he was arrested again in february for another assault - which he claims he did not do - but can't prove either way because of korsokoff he is now in a homeless shelter that has a special program for addicted men. the problem is because of the disease he can't learn anything new. he was recently granted disability payments from social security because of the disability this may be of use for others that may be entitled to this the story seems never ending if you would like more for your class let me know good luck!
