You do have a tough situation. That is the catch 22 here. He is
capable of performing activities of daily living which makes him
ineligible for skilled nursing care (which would be covered by
medicaid). Assisted living facilities like the one my mother is in
are extremely expensive and prohibitive if you don't have assets and
they are not covered by medicaid. I do think there are some
affordable senior housing facilities facilities that offer
assistance. Your best bet may be to find someone in your area, an
elder care (even if he is too young he still needs the same kind of
assistance) specialist that can help you navigate the resources
availbable. You dad will probably not benefit from AA or any
alcholhic rehabilitation as you already know. Take care and let us
