my dad has WKS   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #100 of 2597 |
My dad had abused alcohol for years and years and has been diagnosed
with WKS about 1 1/2 yrs ago. He has stopped drinking entirely but
it seems he is getting worse. Of course the memory loss is bad but he
has slurred speech and shaking of his hands when he has a flare up.
He is in the hosp. today with fluid in his stomach which is "ascites"
and he has a high amonia level, which I am not sure of the meaning of
that. All this is so new to me and I have been on the Internet
looking up information and found the messsege board. I think it is
so awsome to be able to share something like this with people and
family members effected by WKS.My dad is 60 yrs old and looks so thin
and sick. i think he will get out of the hosp tomorrow the doctor
said his stomach looked better and his level had gone down. I don't
know if he is at a bad or ending stage with this or if he will stay
this way and not get worse. HELP for info.
Thanks,
Terri
