Spirituality in Everyday Life:

Reclaiming the Sacred in our Daily Routine

by

Didi Ananda Uttama

Yoga nun of Ananda Marga

Monday 10 April

 7:00pm

NeoHumanist Center, Marousi

The Sacred is that which touches our hearts and our souls, freeing us from everyday stresses and bringing us to a sense of peace. It is hard to express in words.  It can only be experienced.

From breath awareness to listening to sounds to meditation to laughter and the magic of a child, there are countless ways to be conscious of this sacredness. This talk will look at what we consider sacred and explore practical ways to increase that awareness in our daily lives.

Didi Ananda Uttama has been a yoga nun in Ananda Marga, a yoga/meditation and social service organization, for 23 years. Before becoming a nun, she was a Registered Nurse and midwife, working also in organizing hospice care.  Besides living and teaching the daily practices of a yogic lifestyle, she has combined her backgrounds to run preschool programs for children based on yogic philosophy, formulate and organize programs for mothers and infants, support and create various types of women’s groups and manage disaster relief and volunteer services in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Russia, India, United States, Turkey and most recently, in Greece.  Her current project is the NeoHumanist Center in Marousi which offers classes and events for children, mothers and pregnant women, women with breast cancer, yoga and meditation, health awareness and the collection of goods donated to refugees and the homeless.

The Wellness Connection is a group of professionals dedicated to the pursuit of wellness in their professional and personal lives.  A monthly presentation is held highlighting a practitioner’s area of expertise while other wellness caregivers are on hand with information about who they are and what they do.  Anyone wishing to join the group is most welcome. The Wellness Connection is compiling a database of wellness practitioners as a networking service to the greater Athens community.
