Months ago I informed you that Virginia was part of an Ad hoc committee that was established to give comment on the Trailblazer Health LCD ( local coverage determination) for therapy providers. I reached out to you for input, and offered that input to the ad hoc committee. In August a document was completed and sent to Trailblazer Health LLC. This document was a collaborative effort by physical therapy components in  Delaware, Texas, DC, Maryland and Virginia.

Trailblazer Health took note of our comments and many changes requested by the commitee were accepted and  put into place with an effective date of 1/11/2007. The current LCD reflects the new language and can be referenced at http://www.trailblazerhealth.com/lmrp.aspID=4163&lmrptype=va.

Recommendations that were not accepted were 1. our request to cover iontophoresis and 2. to abandon all plans to reinitiate the procedure to diagnosis crosswalk. It is of note that the crosswalk remains inactive for now. Providers will be notified and asked for commentary before the crosswalk again becomes a requirement.
