second letter i've read this morning that really touched me...first of all i want to send you warm thoughts over the loss of your mom...thats a big thing to walk thro...its like being handed the baton and now being an adult....maybe not woman feels that way but i did when my mom died, my mama was gone and now i was mom.  you sure wear that quit well and got the attitude of a quitter by gosh.  simply loved all your funny little descriptive ways of our group and how right you are.  i think you got it going on and want to say how great it is for this herd to have you with us.  Keep up the good work and hope when you go thro those hard days about losing your mom you will feel free to write us about it...thats our job to be here when you need us.  yours affectionately roz

Hi Jeannie and congratulations on that "almost 7 months" - great isn't it and
how it all happens just one day at a time - a very manageable amount. Plus you
and Jerry have done this while undergoing several difficulties and you have
still been an example to those around you. Sorry about the problems with Pal -
it can be a real pain but you have still stuck with us and with your quit. I
have a number of extended and immediate family who still smoke but one has been
quit now for about 15 months and another who is contemplating and some who are
still amazed that I put it down. I hesitate using the word "quit" sounds too
final for me and at times can make me proud instead of humble but I sure know
that I've put nicotine down and will not use today. I sure am glad that you and
Jerry are with this group - have a great day and thanks for sharing.

yfir,
Paul - 25 months and grateful for each day of freedom!

Congratulation Jeannie on almost 7 months.  I don't even seem to be able to get a whole day without cigarettes.  I did set another quit date for today at 7:00 am.  I hope this one works because I'm beginning to think I just can't do this.

I am sorry Jeannie that I let this go on so long without answering you. While discovering your reply to me about a week ago, I immediately read your post. Thank you so much for your attention... !!
It was a grand reply as I reread it again just now. Also thank you Bridget for your attention as well. I started a quit last night and I was able to share at the late night meeting.

The point is... now everyone in my family is coming to me and asking how they too can have this freedom... or the ones who aren't interested avoid me lol but the ones who want to quit, it feels good to pass on the principles of this program, the tools, the guidance... and I even was able to say there is no pressure or obligations because I'm merely passing on what was freely given to me.
It's a pain that I have trouble with paltalk when I am on the mic for very long. I get a bad lag and often get booted from the room. It made meetings I chaired excruciating for me, very embarrassing when I was supposed to be chairing and wasn't there because I was booted over and over. But... I'm happy to pass on the message to those around me, I'm once again very humbly  grateful to this group for my nicotine free life.. Thank you NicA and my Higher Power.
I don't know where I'd be today without this group, but I know I'd still be miserably smoking my life away.
yfir,
Jeannie C. ~Gratefully Nicotine Free for Six Months, Three Weeks, Five Days, 1 Hour and 38 Minutes, ( 210 Days, one day at a time), while extending my life expectancy 65 Days and 15 Hours, by avoiding the use of 9453 deadly cancer sticks that would have cost me $1,573.30. My quit date: April 14, 2009, 11:00 pm.

~God, grant me the serenity to accept the ones I cannot change;

The courage to change the one I can;

And the wisdom to know that one is me.~

its strongly suggested one have 30 days nicotine free to co-chair

1 from V.O.N.R. homepage click on files tab...from files section,
click Meeting Format....., click one of the Meeting Formats...., copy
paste to word, or word pad document... or print hard copy as desired

2 find a chairperson who needs a co-chair...( any meeting with one
person)..I cant speak for all chairpeople, but most will be happy to
have a co-chair, ask to be a co-chair

3 Notify Jadie jadie56@yahoo. com. of date of first meeting co-
chairing... Notify lynne, so you can be put on calendar
lynne2386@sbcglobal .net

4 Join the Paltalk group http://chat. paltalk.com/ g2/group/ 988820702/
(you cant be an admin if your not a member!!)

5 Help as co-chair, learning from your chairperson, a minimum of 4
meetings over 30 days.

6 For additional help check out the weekly Sunday workshop W/ JADIE &
JOHN R. Take a glance at our Group Conscience "Motions" only entry in
the file section of the Yahoo homepage.

REWARDS

1 You will get a real cool original hat, from the studios of our
Paltalk crew

2 You will be of real service to the group, helping to bring the
message of recovery to those yet to come..

3 Those doing service work have an improved chance of continued
recovery.

Not all will be able to help chair meetings, some may simply not have
the time on a continued basis, others will not be able to chair for a
variety of reasons.... for others perhaps greeting, or reading at
meetings... PLEASE REMEMBER; your presence at a meeting of Voices, is
the highest form of service... your v ery presence is proof that this
program works

hey folks..

when people join the group they are given options for setting thier
own e-mail preferences. .. many elect to have messages delivered to
thier e-mail boxes, when this happens every post will be delivered to
the members mail box.... the shear amount of posts at time can be
overwhelming.... happily for all, you can change your message
delivery,to reciveve a daily digest, or special notices, or even no
mail at all.. you may wish to use the no mail optition, and check
messages on the board, if mail volumn is an issue..

to change your mail delivery simply go to the home page, and check
near the top of the page.. in rather small print you will see an icon
that says EDIT MEMBERSHIP.. if you click on that space you will taken
to a page where you can change your mail delivery,,, simply select
your preference, and click save changes at the bottom of the page..

yahoo states to allow up to 48 hours for the change to take effec t,
my expereince however, is that its often instantaneous, and seldom
takes more than a couple of hours...

if you have any problems with the group mail, please post.. myself
or any moderator can effect the change from the group end..
in the past we have had a number of people, who have changed thier
mailbox settings, to reject the group mail... please if it all
possible, dont limit the your mail with this optiion... by blocking
the delivery on the mail end, it cuases a hard bounce in the group
mail delivery... please use the method on the group home page, or
simply post, that mail is a problem, and a moderator will take care
of your problem...

hi friends...

thought i would honor some of our often overlooked folks in a
hippyspam.. aint much, but wanted to let you know, the group
appreciates the hardest little job, of the meeting...the job of
greeting folks as they arrive into the meeting..

as your im sure aware by now, the greeter can be of tremendous help to
those chairing the meeeting... often folks will come into the meeting
environment, with little, or no understanding, of our rules of quiet
and courtousy.. paltalk in general, and indeed the chat
environment has little if any structure.. this makes the job of
greeter, not only a mater of courtousy, indeed, it often makes the
difference, between chaos, and a great meeting.... thank you for all
who have helped over the years... the group is better for your
unending
attention..

for those who have never greeted before, i would like to invite you to
help, its the kind of job one does not need the administrat ive "hat"
for.... its a chance to do service work at a very effective level,
without commiting to the chairing or co-chairing meeting.. and is
esssential to the group..

if you have never greeted before.. check out the files section for the
group... our dear servent aimee has created a file, and a word
document for the use of the greeter.. while it is possible to copy
from the files, and paste directlty from the file section, to
paltalk, i have found it much easier, to copy the contents to a
wordpad file, and pull that up for the meeting..

over the years i have added the 7th step announcments, the
disclaimers, and in short anything used in the meetings to my greeters
file.. and often keep it open in the background just awnsering
newcomers questions..

when im greeting, i simply copy and paste, a welcome, to any i dont
know.. if nessesary, i will use the entry to remind them, to raise
hand, to share.. i have found that re fering newcomers to the yahoo
site is often appreciated, and that they will in fact appreciate the
giudance to the calandar..

thanks for all who greet.. your efforts make this he best place on the
web to get smober..

CHIPS AVAILABLE.... PLEASE HELP WITH CONTRIBUTIONS FOR THIS WONDERFULL SERVICE

Voices of Nicotine Recovery is starting up its chip program to send
real chips via mail to honor those with smobriety time! If you
would like to contribute, please join Paypal at www.paypal.com (it's
free) and send your contribution to jgchaco@.... "

If you would like to receive a chip, please go to
"Links" and click on the link about the "Chips Program" and follow
the instructions, which are very easy.

Chips are only available for upcoming anniversaries (starting with
30 day chips). Back orders for previous anniversaries will not be
available (due to the obvious volume if such back orders were
possible.) Secondly, if someone relapses, it is up to his or her
own conscience whether to ask for replacement chips for smobriety
dates already honored on a previous quit.
