On March 12, 2005, the VOICES Association celebrated it's second
anniversary by hosting its first annual Professional Advisory Board
Luncheon at the Olive Garden in Torrance, CA. The theme this year
is "Bridging the Gap between the Medical and Educational sides to
Communication Disorders". The luncheon provided an opportunity for
members of the VOICES Professional Advisory Board to meet the VOICES
founders, Tamara Hill and Byron Jackson as well as socialize and
network with one another.
President Tamara Hill presented information to attendees about the
work that VOICES has done over the last two years as well as future
programs, projects, funding opportunities and much more.
In attendance were members of the professional advisory board
including its newest members from Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
Also in attendance was:
April Lawrence, Field Representative from the office of U.S.
Congresswoman Maxine Waters
Angela Mandas, President of the California Speech-Language Hearing
Association (CSHA)
Beryl Fogel, Direct Elect – CSHA, Region 6
Carl Borders, CSHA, Region 6
Liz and Larry Wyatt – Parents of a 4 year old with severe speech
impairment from Upland, CA
Everyone was excited about VOICES and at the end, everyone from CSHA
joined the VOICES professional team! There was a wonderful cross
section of clinical and educational professionals and the
networking between everyone was intense! We want to thank everyone
who attended and look forward to working with all of the
professionals who so generously give of their time and passionately
believe in VOICES!
