Do you have any idea regarding the IDEA Law what happens if the school looses
its Speech Teacher? We have recently lost ours and school has just begun.
They say they are trying to hire someone this week, but I can't see how that
can be done so quickly. Meanwhile my son who has a diagnosis of Expressive
Receptive Language disorder will not have speech at school. He has been going
to
speech 2 times per week during the summer (private). Do you know how long I
should give them to hire someone before I need to say something??
This happened to us one year. My school offered to have my son's private
therapist add some extra days of therapy to his schedule, at their expense,
until
they could hire a sub (which took a few weeks), so that's what we did.
Your child is entitled to the therapy in the IEP, so whether it's a sub, a
contracted person, your private person, or made up sessions later (which should
be a last resort, I'd think), you have a right to get the therapy from the
district.
