Mr. Kenia,
Thank you for your inquiry regarding gelatin used in some of our
products. We are glad you contacted us and we are happy to provide you
with this information.
Gelatin is used to help the texture of the product and is derived
from either beef or pork. All gelatin used at
Kellogg is certified Kosher.
Gelatin derived from pork is found in Kellogg's® cereal products
that contain marshmallow additives, for example Kellogg's® Marshmallow Froot
Loops cereal and Kellogg's Smorz® cereal. It is also found in all varieties
of Kellogg's® Rice Krispies Treats® Squares and Special K® Protein Snack Bars.
Gelatin derived from beef is found in all varieties of Kellogg's®
Frosted Pop-Tarts®, Kellogg's® Frosted Mini-Wheats® cereal, and Kellogg's® Rice
Krispies TreatsT cereal. None of the equipment that comes in contact with
the gelatin in Kellogg's® Frosted Pop-Tarts® is used in the production of the
other pastries. As a result, Plain (unfrosted) Kellogg's® Pop-Tarts® do
not contain gelatin. The pre-gelatinized wheat starch contained in some of our
toaster pastries is derived from wheat and does not contain any gelatin.
All Kellogg's® fruit snacks contain gelatin. In fruit
snacks beef and pork gelatin are used interchangeablybased on availability in
the marketplace.
Again, thank you for contacting us. We appreciate your
loyal use of our products and hope that this provides you with the information
you need to make food choices appropriate for you and your family.

to cook and fast recipes:
In this group, we have Database section.
In Database section we have a folder "Vegetarian Recipes"
Please add your recipes files in that section.
Please add name of the item in the title.
Please look at it and if you need any more columns let me know.
Thanks
If each member of Vegetarian Vision Group, specially President, Secretary, and other committee members: ( I will definitely bring one or more, if everyone agrees - at my cost)
Sponsor and bring one child from (any known or nearby or) any high school to 'vegetarian vision thanks giving dinner', will work.
I get this idea looking at Pizza-Hut's book reading program.
They give coupon for each child. Now the child is not going alone to pizza-hut. so Each coupon will bring pizza-hut at least three or four customer, Plus more name in the community.
I am urging every committee members of Vegetarian Vision to pay from their pocket at least $15 for one child.
Tell them as a Vegetarian Vision committee member, you are allowed to select one child, and, so "I am selecting you and inviting you to "Vegetarian Thanks giving dinner" as a gesture of thanks to the society and honoring that particular high school student"
Do not bring child with you. (but make sure he/she comes to the dinner)
Let that teenager come on (his/her) own.
He will definitely bring few more people.
This would be real thanks giving and meaningful.
No cost to Vegetarian Vision Organization.
Sponsor of child, i.e. member of organization will feel better, that they did something for the society on thanks giving day.
Hi Maynard. Good to hear from you.
I welcome and encourage everyone to post items on interest to the
message board; it's public, fyi.
Thanks! and cheers.

Caldwell B. Esselstyn, Jr., MD, F.A.C.S.
Caldwell B. Esselstyn, Jr., received his B.A. from Yale University and his M.D. from Western Reserve University. In 1956, pulling the No. 6 oar as a member of the victorious United States rowing team, he was awarded a gold medal at the Olympic Games. He was trained as a surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic and at St. George’s Hospital in London. In 1968, as an Army surgeon in Vietnam, he was awarded the Bronze Star.
Dr. Esselstyn has been associated with the Cleveland Clinic since 1968. During that time, he has served as President of the Staff and as a member of the Board of Governors. He chaired the Clinic’s Breast Cancer Task Force and headed its Section of Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery.
In 1991, Dr. Esselstyn served as President of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, That same year he organized the first National Conference on the Elimination of Coronary Artery Disease, which was held in Tucson, Arizona. In 1997, he chaired a follow-up conference, the Summit on Cholesterol and Coronary Disease, which brought together more than 500 physicians and health-care workers in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. In April, 2005, Dr. Esselstyn became the first recipient of the Benjamin Spock Award for Compassion in Medicine.
His scientific publications number over 150, “The Best Doctors in America” 1994-1995 published by Woodward and White cites Dr. Esselstyn’s surgical expertise in the categories of endocrine and breast disease. In 1995 he published his bench mark long-term nutritional research arresting and reversing coronary artery disease in severely ill patients. That same study was updated at 12 years making it one of the longest longitudinal studies of its type. It is most compelling, as no compliant patients have sustained disease progression. Today, 20 years later compliant patients continue to thrive.
Dr. Esselstyn and his wife, Ann Crile Esselstyn, have followed a plant-based diet for more than 20 years. They work together to counsel patients both in Cleveland, where they live, and in summer at the farm in upstate New York where Dr. Esselstyn grew up. Dr. Esselstyn concentrates on the medical details, and Ann focuses on healthy foods and how to prepare them.
The Esselstyns have four children and seven grandchildren.

The thanksgiving celebrations is not
just about giving thanks, offering prayers and being together. It is
also about sharing lovely cozy dinners, hot roasted turkeys, corn meals,
and other occasional tasty dishes with your family and guests. Though
eating turkey is a custom on Thanksgiving Day in the United States but
it is not the only the menu you can have on a thanksgiving dinner. You
can have a delicious collection of vegetarian dishes also on your dinner
table. So we have got some best of recipes for you to try out the fall
festival in the vegetarian way. These recipes will definitely make your
Thanksgiving dinner even more special. Moreover these are easy to cook
and very tasteful too…
I have created event in yahoo group calendar and posted the event with
reminder before 7 days and 1day.
Thanks for your interest.
Please send email to all your connections and friends to join
Vegetarianvision yahoo group, so we can easily communicate and create more
events.
Events for Teenagers, any suggestions? (something stimulating to their
brain, intelligent, they should take interest themselves? Like offering
Vegetarian Scholarship for higher education etc. may be for following reasons:
If some one going for research or higher study in any industry, who
saves trees, plants, animals. Make car which uses natural resources.
“Doing research on politicians who are killers of animals, hunters, who
can abuse their power to promote Arial hunting, and animal killing, etc…(This
is a joke)”
Teenagers are future of America,If we start building up new roots, it better for incoming future.
In this Thanks Giving Dinner event, any news for teenagers?

Vegetarian Vision of NYC - Thanksgiving Event in November
Join, plug in VV's zip code, join the local group, then ask that group's meetup coordinator to create the event.
On Facebook, just create the event directly.
In yahoogroups.com, googlegroups.com, MSN Groups, etc. create event, and DO use a graphic, thoughmany strip off the graphic when they download. I always use formatted e-mail.
Blog presence? Great idea, but integrate blog into VV web presence...
Radio presence for a large metro area? Do you have a large enoiugh meeting spot, a host? Riverside Church, I'm told, has a number of vegetarians, and they could make an ecumenical event. One need not subscrib to the venue to attend an event of giving gratitude and sharing vegam food. OTOH, hoew could one in a spirit of grstitude kill other persons and feast on their bodies?
Now 'for the new generation', are we 'Twittering it'? Is publicity VIRAL? How about MULTICENTRIC? How many CegEvangelists do you have promoting this?
Vegan Outreach and the local AR people? Most will want to NOT travel, so how 'portable' is your event?? Is it "a turnkey operation" or ... If not, are all the details already posted, with maps, links to Google maps and mapQuest? and local public transportation directions?
Who can help VV upgrade its promotion and outreach? Facebook IS a good start. What do the political campaigns do??
And will all the Indian folks go, even if they're not Jains? How do you get them to join this?

your group. Can anyone tell me more about what Vegetarian Vision is
about and what are the activities?

Dear all Vegetarian Vision Members,
I am glad I found this article. I have learned a significant amount
about the connections between yoga and the Hindu religon from this
article, even though this was written by someone who may not know
much about this subject, in spite of having explored the subject for
many years. Thanks to the writer, whoever he or she is....
Why A Christian ALTERNATIVE to Yoga?
Those who think yoga is little more than a series of stress-
relieving stretching exercises may be surprised to learn about true
foundation of the multi-billion dollar yoga craze in North America.
There are an estimated 15-20 million people practicing yoga in the
U.S., and estimates of 50,000 to 100,000 yoga instructors offering
classes at 20,000+ locations
Did you know that yoga postures are offerings to the 330 million
Hindu gods?
I call yoga "the missionary arm of Hinduism and the New Age
movement." We don't often think of other religions having
missionaries, but the philosophy and practice of yoga have been
primary tools of Hindu "missionaries" to America since "Indian
priest and mystic" Swami Vivekananda introduced yoga to the West at
the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago.[i]
Another Hindu missionary welcomed into elite circles was Paramahansa
Yogananda who started the Self-Realization Fellowship in Los
Angeles. He cleverly chose to demonstrate that yoga was completely
compatible with Christianity. Wearing a cross, he came to America in
the 1920s with the Hindu religious text, the Bhagavad Gita, in one
hand and the Bible in the other. He reasoned that yoga was the
binding force that could connect all religions.
From experience I can say that yoga is a dangerous practice for the
Christian and leads seekers away from God rather than to Him. You
may say, "Well, I'm not doing any of the meditation stuff. I'm just
following the exercises." It is impossible, however, to separate the
subtleties of yoga the technique from yoga the religion. I know
because I taught and practiced hatha yoga for years. Hatha yoga is
the most popular yoga style available on store-bought videos and in
most gyms. For an eye-opening account of the background and meaning
of "hatha yoga," please see my notes at the bottom of this page
"The term Hatha Yoga has been commonly used to describe the practice
of asana (postures). The syllable 'ha' denotes the pranic (vital)
force governing the physical body and 'tha' denotes the chitta
(mental) force thus making Hatha Yoga a catalyst to an awakening of
the two energies that govern our lives. More correctly the
techniques described in Hatha Yoga harmonize and purify the body
systems and focus the mind in preparation for more advanced chakra
and kundalini practices.
"Let us see the meaning of word Hatha, it is made up of Ha +
Tha. "Ha" means Ida nadi, (moon principle) or left nostril and "tha"
means Pingala Nadi (sun principle) or right nostril. Nadi means
psychic passage of energy which can be compared with nerves in
physical body. Hatha means balance of Ida and Pingala Nadis, or
balancing of mental energy of Ida and Vital energy of Pingala Nadi.
Ida Nadi can be compared with Parasympathetic Nervous system and
Pingala nadi can be compared with Sympathetic Nervous System. So
Hatha Yoga practices results in balancing the entire nervous system.
The basic purpose of Hatha Yoga is to purify the Ida and Pingala
Nadis and then uniting these 2 forces with the third Psychic Nadi
Sushumna, which carries Kundalini at Ajna Chakra (eyebrow center)."
- Yogacharya Vishwas Mandlik, Vice Chancellor of Yoga at Vidya
Gurukul (Yoga University).
