Have you seen that movie with Jim Carrey? "the Truman Show". It's
about a guy who's life was basically being watched buy the whole
world from the time he was an infant until he was an adult. he was
the only one in the whole world who wasn't "in" on it. but he always
had a feeling of being watched. It sounds a lot like what you
described, but in his case it was really happening.
