I saw on the website that other people were afraid of styrofoam and
polystyrene but my fear is strictly pertaining to packing peanuts.
All kinds of packing peanuts too; polystyrene, starch or otherwise.
The fear relates to their size, clustering, texture, and static
cling; but even one with no static cling by itself absolutely
horrifies me. The most horrifying of all are the ones shaped like 3s
and Es, but the 8s, domes and cheetoh shaped ones terrify me all the
same. The more static the scarier and the larger the scarier. Ive
been afraid of them ever since I was a small child when I found one
in the closet and it stuck to my finger. I ran out of the room
screaming. To this day I require other people to open boxes for me
because Im terrified that they may contain packing peanuts. If
someone mails me something I ask specifically that they do not pack
in peanuts, but wrap in newspaper or bubble wrap. I am uneasy just
being in the same room as them, and even thinking about them gives me
the heeby jeebies. I deffinatley cannot touch one or I would probably
scream/have a heart attack. I take only jobs where I know I most
likely wont come in contact with them (cooking, computer assembly,
construction, clothing stores to name a few) If at my place of work I
was forced to touch packing peanuts I would get up and run out the
door (possibly screaming) and never come to work there again. I might
even leave town. I go out of my way not to order things on the
internet or from catalogs, and will gladly pay more to avoid it;
however when I must get something ship I do require someone else to
open it and dispose of the peanuts out of my view. I cant even look
at them. I have other fears but this is the only one so great that I
will get up and leave to avoid even seeing it.
