Re: [unusualphobias] Empty Swimming Pools, buildings and pipes

Nina
I know the feeling, I hate seeing any sort of pipes in or around plumbing in bathrooms.
What really made me sick, but I Loved the movie, was SAW. The entire first show was in a bathroom and it had all my fears in one....a bathroom, a bath tub with a drain and pipes.
When I go to the bathroom I don't look at the toilet or the pipes or floor, it is sickening.
I also will bring in some paper towels and if there is a drain in the floor in my stall I close my eyes and cover it really quickly and I also flush with my foot and run.
I can't stand a old abandoned building, pool or house, what lurks inside is what gets me, the dirt, the pipes, the dirty sinks or lavatories, the tubs.....just nasty.
When I see pipes going into pools, bathrooms, sewers or in basements it is sickening.
 especially old crusty dirty pipes.

There is a Seinfeld episode where they are in a hallway and they have pipes around the dressing room of someone they are visiting and I can't watch that part of it.

But, I love SAW and I love Psycho, both with bathrooms and drains. Go figure.

Hi,

I have a huge fear of public bathroom toilets (not the cleanliness of it but the look) esp those with all those pipes. This has been a fear of mine since I was little. I hate it because going to the b/r is something we all have to do so, most of the time I'm forced to deal with it..even though I'm scared to death. So when I got to the b/r I try not to stare at the toilet too much. Then after I use it I make sure my pants are pulled up and zipped and my hand is on the door then flush with my foot so I can can hurry up and get out.

I also fear overflowing toilets - OMG! I can't stand it - it really freaks me out.  I can't even look inside the back of the toilet at home. I'm so weird - is there anyone else out there like that. Oh I forgot the mention the automatic flushing toilets are bad too.

I also hate slugs..the sight of those nasty  things makes me physically ill . I can't even type about it anymore.

I have that fear also, seeing a pool empty or looking into one at the deep end freaks me out.
I will not even go near a pool that is empty or dirty and abandoned.
I also do not like water over my head, I have a pool, but it is above ground and is only 4.5 feet deep, I am 5.4 so I am OK with it.
My biggest fear is drains, I hate to see them, be near them or touch them. All drains do this, whether it is in a house, sink, pool or a water drain for the streets, I cannot go near them.
I do not like water I cannot see in either, if I go to the  beach I cannot go out more than a few feet to get wet and I like seeing the bottom.....that is what prompted me to get a pool, I love water, but can't go in the gulf/ocean or lake area and swim.

I'm also afraid of water deeper than I am tall and swimming in water
where I can't see the bottom (like lakes) because I'm afraid something
will touch me that I can't see. Looking at pictures of shipwrecks also
scares me!
