Re: [unusualphobias] Toilets

Hi,
You're definitely not alone in this matter. I'm terribly afraid of toilets too. It's always been that way since I was little. In particular I hate the metal pipes attached to them (mostly seen in public bathrooms). The higher the pipe the more frighten I am.

If my toilet at home gets stopped up..my fiance has to fix it. I can't even go anywhere near the stool. I hate the gurgling noise it makes, and if I have to reach my hand in the back to fix the pipe work..FORGET IT!!   That is too gross. Not in an uncleanly way, but just seeing all the fixtures meshed together is horrifying. Most people who are scared of toilets isn't thinking about the germs but how it looks - at least that's me.  I have it so bad that I often try to go to restaurants and malls where I'm familiar with how the stools look. That way the anxiety and fear isn't so bad. Don't get me wrong I'll use it if I absolutely have to, but I'm sweating and shaking the whole time waiting for it to be over.

The worse are the automatic toilet flushers - I'm alwasy afraid that it's going to flush when I'm on it.. OMG!!!
I'm also afraid of tall metal objects, like Metal towers by bridges. The Eifel Tower is the worse.

Subject: [unusualphobias] Toilets

I have a very unusual and irrational phobia of toilets, it's generally
plumbing but toilets are the worst. I think it's the flush, I don't
actually know why I am so scared. I recently had hypnotherapy as we
were going to Florida and I was terrified of the toilets on the plane
and the automatic-flush toilets they have all around Disney. All went
well until a toilet in Universal Studios flushed while I was on it.
I've never been able to get past that and I feel my fear is even more
apparent now.
I will not flush a toilet unless the lid is down (in a public toilet I
have to unlock the door before I flush)
A toilet which gets blocked and the water level rises is the most
terrifying thing in the world to me.
Plugholes (especially foreign ones) which have no grid/grill thing
over them or that gurgle really frighten me too.
Does anyone else share this strange fear?
