Thank God I've found others who suffer with this horrid phobia
(although I am sorry u have it too). I didn't know that Tryphophobia
was the name...Lord knows I've been trying to find a name for what's
been bothering me for so many years.I've no idea what started it but
I remember being 8 and seeing a honeycomb and feeling like I was
going to die if someone didn't move it (it was on the verandah of
our holiday home).I had to see it everytime I went outside and
remember sitting staring at it horrified, feeling traumatized,
tearful and anxious. I've got pins and needles and I'm itching all
over just thinking about it. Yeeeeuuurrgghh. I feel physically sick
and I perspire when I see clusters (of circles or small animals,
insects) magnified bacteria, certain repetitive patterns like
squares, patterns on butterflies, etc. And do you rememeber the
film 'Alien' when that crab-like thing jumped on the guys face..and
stayed there for about 12 scenes??? OMG..I thought my number was up.
(Maybe that doesn't come under Tryphophobia...crab-shaped or things
that are splayed (like spiders...I'm not scared of them per se but
the way they look when they're spread out on the wall, freaks me
out...anyone know?). Once I see these things I can't think about
anything else for ages and the panic, tension and stress I feel is
awful. What on earth can I do to make this darned fear go away or at
least calm down?
