I have a fear of Jewelry that started out as a fear of buttons but morphed. I was two and a half and suddenly stopped wearing my favorite dress that had buttons down the back and my mom couldn't figure out what happened. I wore zippers and snaps until Elementary school or so. (Although that makes me sound like I frequented leather bars all through kindergarten.) Somewhere along the line the phobia became more of jewelry than of buttons.
I still won't wear SOME buttons...like really really small dainty ones or pearl buttons, but I started off wearing bigger, plastic, non-shiny ones and I've been working my way towards the more delicate ones. I still, when I'm wearing a cardigan or something, don't like crossing my arms if my sleeves are rolled up because I don't like feeling the buttons against my skin. I also don't like hearing buttons click against a counter top. And I would never stick my hand into a big thing of buttons at a fabric store or anything.
So I guess I'm still a little afraid of buttons, but it's not my main thing anymore and I do wear some of them that I didn't wear when I was younger.
