Re: My unusual phobia

I did see part of a scary fetus-related movie called "The Unborn",
that was about a human genetic engineering experiment gone wrong.
The result was genetically engineered fetuses that tore their way
out of their mothers and went on a killing spree, or something like
that. It got to me so badly I couldn't finish watching it, and it
also gave me nightmares. Was that Embryo book about that sort of
thing? My "fetophobia" is also the reason I never liked The Drew
Carey Show. At the end, they would show the producer's logo, for
Mohawk Productions, that showed an ultrasound fetal image that
twitched and laughed and evil laugh. That was the first and LAST
time I watched that show, because of that Evil Laughing Fetus at the
end. Through much of my childhood, after seeing that ultra-creepy
commercial, when I was in bed, I couldn't look in the direction of
my darkened TV set on my dresser, in fear that that Smoking Fetus
from the commercial would somehow supernaturally materialize on the
screen. And mind you, today I'm a 28 year old man, and can handle
scary movies like The Exorcist or the Freddy movies like nothing.
But when PBS ran an episode of Nova, about human fetal development,
THAT was real horror to me, even more than movies about demonic
possession. That comes to show how intense this fear is. And I feel
a bit better knowing that I'm apparently not alone.
