I know exactly how you feel! If I see a kid (or anyone for that matter) with a balloon or something I have to get out of there! It's like I can feel the panic building up and cant stop it. Its the same with party poppers, fireworks, etc etc! Glad to see I am not alone.

I would just like to send my condolences to the person who had to
deal with this so-called friend popping balloons in their face. My
friends chased me around the gym in front of a bunch of people with
balloons left over from the dance the night before. I think that
people really don't understand that this is a panic-inducing fear
that we have, they don't believe that it's possible to be afraid of
something that they aren't. My friends still bug me and I'm
24...some people will never understand how problematic this fear can
be. I, for one, kicked a 9 or 10year old kid in the mall for
continually squeeking and squeezing a balloon after I politely asked
him to stop. So I kicked him in the ankle and ran for my life into
a department store so he couldn't chase me and pop the balloon! I
shouldn't have dealt with the kid that way, but sometimes you have
to take drastic measure I guess. I hope this situation gets better
for you:)
