Lots of weirdness about clothes   Message List

Hello everyone, i'm new to this group.

Although it isn't as bad as it was, i have a number of phobias about
clothes. The biggest one is not too rare, which is buttons. Like
i've seen other people say, i don't want to be "cured" of this because
i think they're disgusting and it would be like wanting to be cured of
not wanting to touch excrement. However, it is fairly disabling
because i have to wear a button-up shirt in my work and it is so
horrible to do that that it is quite distracting and hard to
concentrate. I also find it hard to cope with people wearing things
with buttons on them. People don't seem to realise how serious this
is, though i'm sure people here do.

There's also loads of other stuff about clothes that means that i am
very restricted in what i actually feel comfortable wearing, but
buttons are the biggest problem. I can empathise with someone who
said there ought to be a community somewhere where they are banned
completely, though obviously this can't happen.

I think the button phobia might be connected to a natural distaste for
skin problems involving pustules, blisters and so forth. What do
other people think?
