I guess you are considered "a lucky one" that you can have your ostomy
reversed. For me, no such luck. Sometimes I think I would like to just
leave the bathroom without a pouch hanging from my belly and you know, the
thought passes in about 5 seconds. Life is so much better with a stoma than
before, I feel I am blessed that there are procedures that make your life
better and also appliances that you can wear that are hardly noticeable.
Convatec makes an adhesive type, two piece, that fits flat together. With
a colostomy, you can wear a closed end, disposable pouch that is hardly
detectable under clothing. It is called ESTEEM Synergy. Their
hydrocolloid wafers helps combat any kind of skin irritation you may have
and never under estimate the use of plain, warm water, to cleanse the skin,
can do for you. Of course, there are other companies that make a comparable
product but this just happens what I got started on first. I wish you all
the luck in the world. My best advice is just keep searching the web sites
for as much information as you can find. My colostomy is a little over 2
years old and I guarantee, every day is different. If anyone tells you they
know all there is to know about ostomies, they are not truthful people!
