Re: [UK Ostomy Support ] Help

Thank you so much Lee.  You have been a huge help.  My mom has a great outlook on everything, she just has so many questions and with your help and others who have been so gracious, she'll get through this faster.

Thank you again Lee!

You take care,

Shelli

> Hi,
I had my colonostomy surgery a little over a year
ago. Due to cancer part of my colon was removed as
well as my rectum. I was not able to sit upright for 2
weeks and I was sore for a couple of months. My family
doctor prescribed vicodin by the 100 and I used over
400 of them. (my surgen is very tight with pain
killers) Also there were pockets were I was stiched
that my wife packed with gauze twice a day for 6
weeks. It takes time but she will heal.
Once healed, I began to irrigate. If I irrigate
in the morning, I have no gas until late in the
evening. I have found no way to muffle the noise. (she
can hold a pillow over it or try a gas-ex)
I just returned from a vacation to Niagra falls.
I took my irrigation kit, extra wafers and pouches and
a few zip lock bags. I irrigated each morning and was
able to visit wineries, casinos and the falls without
having to be bothered by gas or any output.
If I can be of any help, you can pm me from the
ostomy site.
