Re: [UK Ostomy Support ] Colitis in animals

Hi Michele
You won't belive this when I tell you that my 7 year
old west highland white terrier, Monty, has suffered
with Colitis on and off throughout his life! He has
always had trouble with his bowels (I think he doesn't
drink enough) but on a few occasions I have had to
take him to our vet because he has had bloody
diaorrhea. The vet has given him an injection adn
tablets similar to mesalazine on each occasion. Isn't
it odd, the vet said it may be through drinking from
puddles but am not so sure. My hubby can't quite
believe it himself - says we are too alike!
I am now feeding him a very moist meaty dog food which
seems to have helped but also since we have had our
fish pond in May he has been drinking more from it!
(It must be the most expensive dog bowl in history)

Hope your ferret is soon feeling better

love

Helen
