Re: [UK Ostomy Support ] greetings from new member Barb.....and question about irrigation
Hi Barbara and everyone else on the site, some people may remember
me , It's
Loz the Eternal Ostomist back!
new computer same problems one day I'll learn how to do all this
technological stuff.
Had my op back in Mar 2003 have been irrigating since about May same
year, what freedom better than having a backside, sorry to hear that
you find it uncomfortable, and that you have pain because of your
spine.
The pros and cons as I see it are
Pro's
1) 45 minutes reading every other day. Been through loads of books.
2) generally only change bags every other day
3) no worry's
Con's
1) There are none
Note
Whilst I am coming up to the two year mark, every 7 days or so I
have to do do 2 in 24hrs esp if eating greasy things .oily things
olives sausage rolls, been walking , eat a lot, drank alot, e.t.c
only had 3 burst bags (drunk, me not the bag) and have pebble dashed
the bathroom, having said that it is far easier than changing bags
couple of times a day or even having to go to toilet everyday.
I live by tyhe motto now if I can smell it change it, usually the
adhesive has warmed up and a gap has formed.
I have irrigated in hotels at home and abroad, on ships and never
had a prob.
If I could stretch it to 36 hrs then that would be brill
hope this helps
Loz

all. Best of luck in the future.
