Thank you for your letter. I'm sorry for the loss of your Andrew
too. I think I will run all of this by my doctor and see what he
thinks of it. Maybe things have changed since I saw the gene
specialist. It probably couldn't hurt to have a full geneotype
done. I'm certain that my son has autism, but maybe there is more to
it. Do your children have more physical ailments or cognitive
ailments?
Something I want to throw out here as well...my father served in
Vietnam and had agent orange exposure. Every single one of his
children and grandchildren have some sort of issue. We in our autism
group frequently talk of possible environmental triggers..of course
none are proven. I was just wondering if anyone had some sort of
toxicity?

confirmed to have an unbalanced chromosome translocation which is:
1p36 deletion (monosomy 1p) AND 9q34 duplication (trisomy 9q). Our
doctors agree that Andrew most likely had heart complications due to
the same disorder. We now know that I am a carrier of this
disorder. I have the balanced version. (I have all my bits and
pieces but they are rearranged) I am perfectly healthy. So I know
in some instances these disorders ARE hereditary. But I do believe it
is rare.
