Hi, I'm a mom of three great kids. Lauren 13, Mathew 5 and Andrew (who would be
15) deceased at 3 mos. Lauren and Mathew have been confirmed to have an
unbalanced chromosome translocation which is: 1p36 deletion (monosomy 1p) AND
9q34 duplication (trisomy 9q). Our doctors agree that Andrew most likely had
heart complications due to the same disorder. We now know that I am a carrier
of this disorder. I have the balanced version. (I have all my bits and pieces
but they are rearranged) I am perfectly healthy. So I know in some instances
these disorders ARE hereditary. But I do believe it is rare.
