Renee,

I'm a new member and I want to tell
you what a teriffic idea this is! T.I.E.S. is a
wonderful group but not very helpful to those of us who are
not terminal.

It's very hard to set up
guidelines for people with chronic pain as we all know how
subjective our perceptions of pain are. This could be tricky
especially if you were to set up some kind of criteria for
the length people have been in pain. I am an R.N. and
have been around people in pain most of my life. It's
been my experience that people do not lie about their
pain. If people say they are in pain, they ARE. (Try to
get doctors to believe that!) It would also be
difficult to make criteria based on particular illnesses,
too. You could have some folks with FMS saying they
hurt more than other disease entities when in fact,
they can't really know how much the other people are
suffering. I'm sure there are many other adoptees who are
just like me....who are suffering with tremendous pain
but cannot be diagnosed. What about us?

I
would be happy to discuss this issue further with you
if you would like to eamil me personally but I
really think it would be best to let ANY adoptee, with
any kind of pain problem, into the group. We're not
making this pain up even though we may not have a
particular diagnosis.

Karla
KarlajKJ@...
