Hello,
My name is Sharie. I am sorry to hear that this terrible syndrome has gotten
the best of you too. I have had TOS for 6 years now and have had injections,
therapy and not to mention numerous meds. The injections did nothing, therapy
only aggravated it and the only meds that seem to help me (everyone's TOS is
unique) is Motrin 800 mg (be careful with this as it can aggravate the stomach)
and cyclobenzaprine (muscle relaxer) on an as needed basis. When I notice my
muscles in my shoulders are getting tense I use a heating pad or other means to
apply heat to my shoulders which seems to help. Otherwise, when I am in a
flareup I have to lie down because most of the time when I am in a flareup it
puts me down for the rest of the day. I have been fortunate at times to be able
to get up after a couple of hours, however, I do nothing that I know will
aggravate and cause another flareup. I have tried going to a massage therapist
which is very helpful. This loosens the tension in the
muscles and helps reduce any flareups.
There is another site that you can check out for thoracic outlet syndrome called
brain talk.com. This site is more active than the one on Yahoo. You will find
this site very helpful and informative as well as comforting. You will meet
many people on this site who have thoracic outlet syndrome and are willing to
share their history with it as well as any suggestions or help.
I hope this has been of some help to you. At least be able to direct you to
where you may find more suggestions and help. If you have any other questions
or questions regarding braintalk.com, please don't hesitate to ask. That is
what the sites are for, for people to come together and help each other.
Take care,
Sharie
