Hi Im Deb. I just saw your message this am. It might
be a good idea to get another opinion before having
this procedure done. You can sign out your films to
take with you. Ask how long the recovery period would
be. How long respiratory therapy will take. What are
the potential complications, risks how many of these
procedures the surgeon has done. Who will be assisting
in the surgery. Is it a regular team, or residents
assisting. What assistance you will need at home,
will the provisions be made before you leave the
hospital. Will you need to go to a nursing home for a
while? How long will the hospital stay be. What will
the treatment be after the surgery, chemo, radiation,
is there any new experimental treatments you could
participate in. Be sure to write down your questions
before your appointment, and it is a good idea to have
someone in there to hear the answers also. four ears
are better than two. DO NOT LET THE DOC BRUSH YOU OFF
BE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THE ANSWERS. DONT BE AFRAID TO
REPEAT A QUESTION. REMEMBER YOU OWN YOUR BODY AND THE
DOC WORKS FOR YOU. GOOD LUCK! YOU ARE IN MY PRAYERS.
