To Liz: What I have figured out is that when you send email to
people in the club I get copies of it. I guess that is because
I am the Moderator and I have it set so that I get messages from
the club in my email. Sometimes I mess up and read them when
they are not directed to me; sorry; or if I think I can assist.
Be sure to tell your M.D. about this. When I first had TOCs I
slept in my hand/wrist splints. I don't know if you have any of
these or not.
It may be that you are sleeping on this arm/hand or turning over
on it; I don't know. My pain was so bad that before I went to
bed they told me to sit on the couch and eleveate my arms up on
pillows until they became numb. That way I could sleep a little
longer before the pain woke me up. I have problems when I wake
up with the neck the arms the hands. The proper way to sleep
when you have tocs is on your back with you shoulders somewhat
raised up. This takes the pressure off the nerves. I even walk
around like that somtimes; it helps cut the pain back a tiny
bit. TOCs had a lot of symptoms and they may change and come
and go. My hands were often red and swollen at first I have not
had that in years. The symptoms somtimes change day to day
also. After awhile you get to know them and sometimes the old
ones grow dimmer or other ones pop up. I hope someone can help
you out on this. be sure to ask the m.d. what he suggests you do
to help this... IF you have splints try sleeping in them I don't
know if it will help
or maybe elevating it on a pillow. Try anything that works for
you...I know living with this is real hell. I am not able to do
my student teaching because of my disabiilties which means I
won't get my degree for what is supposed to be an occupation I
can go part time. I have tried for two weeks but there is no
way this body can drive 45 minutes work 4 hours a day drive 45
minutes and make bulletin boards and set up dramatic play
centers and do all that is required to meet the grade for this
last class...make 20 art activities, make 10 math, take in 25
storybooks...so ...
oh well... I have been at myslef all week but the bottom line is
it is not my fault and beating myself up over this 24 hours a
day does not help.. Good luck.
