Welcome to the group. Sorry but my TOCS is work-related from
repetitive computer typing as a medical transcriptionist for over 22
years. I do know that correct posture helps take the pressure off the
ribs and also if you elevate your shoulders it takes the pressure off
which decreases my pain.
Sorry but I have only heard of people being born with an extra top rib,
which often does not even effect them for many years. Perhaps you can
elminate some of your pain or discomfort by doing what he suggests. I
was not surgical candidate so my only choice was Physical Therapy. I
do know that the surgery is controversial and a "quick fix" as if you
get scar tissue build up it can make the tocs worse. That is the
normal procedure of choice and belive me I would have had it done if I
could have. Maybe if you keep looking you will find someone else who
is similar to you; don't know of any case such as that. Hope we can be
of help to you and sounds like you have a good start with your M.D. I
think you prob have a very mil case from what you have told me and can
prob correct it by a change in your...maybe even your work habits. Try
to space out your typing if you can...each case is unique. If you
search on the internet and find Massachusetts General Hospital you will
find a neurology section with a huge section under tocs. People there
have postings. Hopefully you can manage yours and it sounds extremely
mild to
me.
=====
Cathy
